Charlie Rose Goes Global Via Bloomberg

NEW YORK: The nightly in-depth conversation series Charlie Rose will be available to a global audience starting in September, across Bloomberg TV, radio, web and mobile.

Charlie Rose currently airs on more than 220 PBS channels in the U.S., and will start to broadcast a next-day international edition on Bloomberg TV. The Monday through Friday special edition will include additional footage, commentary and illustrative data from the previous night’s broadcast. The global Bloomberg Radio service will broadcast the program nightly and the Bloomberg.com website and Bloomberg mobile applications will provide clips of the program and links to content. The show features Rose in one-on-one conversations and roundtable discussions with politicians, scientists, business leaders, writers, entertainers and athletes.

"For the past 18 years, our program has been dedicated to the idea of good conversation across the spectrum of human curiosity," said Rose. "We now make it a true global conversation. Along the way, Thirteen/WNET, PBS, Charlierose.com, Bloomberg, supportive underwriters and a dedicated staff have enabled us to reach for a true global dialogue that defines who we are and where we are. This new partnership with Bloomberg Television is a unique and powerful opportunity to introduce to a new audience the ideas, actions and people that shape our destiny. I could not be more appreciative and excited."

"Charlie is a rare fellow in the television business," commented Andy Lack, the CEO of multimedia at Bloomberg. "He is a remarkable interviewer and tremendous journalist, and his show is ‘a must see’ for thought leaders and the most influential audience in the U.S."

Lack added, "Now Charlie’s nightly program is destined to become a worldwide brand."
