HONG KONG: Celestial Movies and Celestial Classic Movies are headed to Indonesia through a new carriage deal with satellite pay-TV operator Cipta Skynindo.

This is Celestial Classic Movies’ first carriage in Indonesia and its fourth in Asia, following on launches in Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam. The 24-hour channel programs Chinese movies in the categories of Kung Fu and martial arts as well as drama, action, Huangmei opera, horror and musicals.

Skynindo is the third platform to carry Celestial Movies in Indonesia, alongside Indovision and Telkomvision. The flagship channel showcases the latest Chinese blockbusters and other Asian hit films.

Both are joining Skynindo’s basic package.

“We are thrilled to partner with Skynindo to extend our channels’ reach in Indonesia and especially to debut Celestial Classic Movies,” said Ross Pollack, the CEO of Celestial Pictures. “Skynindo’s strong emphasis on Chinese-language content makes them the perfect partner for Celestial. We offer Skynindo’s subscribers a complete Chinese movie offering: the choice to tune-in to Celestial Movies for current blockbusters or watch iconic films which continue to entertain today on Celestial Classic Movies.”

“Skynindo is glad to add both Celestial Movies and Celestial Classic Movies to our roster of channels,” added Krestian, the director of PT. Cipta Skynindo. “The addition of these movie channels helps strengthen our Chinese-language programming, allowing us to offer an unparalleled selection of current hits and legendary classics to our viewers in Indonesia.”
