CCTV Picks Up Frozen Planet from BBC Worldwide

BEIJING: BBC Worldwide has sold its natural-history title Frozen Planet to CCTV, as the second annual BBC Showcase China is currently under way.

BBC Worldwide and CCTV have had a long-standing partnership, which has included the co-production Beautiful China, known globally as Wild China. The title has been sold into more than 160 territories.

BBC Worldwide has sold five formats in China, including Top Gear, Dancing with the Stars and Tonight’s the Night. Digital sales have also been strong for BBC Worldwide in China, having secured VOD deals with local websites such as Sina.com, ifeng.com and CNTV.com.
