CBS Interactive to Launch Enhanced Video Player

NEW YORK, June 3: CBS
Interactive is rolling out a new streaming video player that features
embeddable clips, along with enhancements like high-definition quality,
full-screen viewing capabilities and a redesigned interface.

The player will be
deployed across CBS.com and the CBS Audience Network, the largest video
distribution network for premium online content. The new player will continue
to bring syndicated content to its users and deliver video without requiring a
separate software download. Users can now watch CBS content in a user-friendly
interface with support for H.264—the same standard deployed in Blu-ray
and HD-DVD.

The revamped video player
presents users with options to interact with content and other users, with new
features like support for content sharing through embeddable video clips that
allow users to embed their favorite videos and clips on blogs and
social-network profiles to share with their friends. The redesign of the
interface includes new navigation and search functions. The new features begin
this week, with further enhancements to be added to the player throughout the
summer.

"As the first premium
content network to take an open approach to syndication, we are committed to
providing our users with the best online viewing experience possible,"
said Anthony Soohoo, the senior VP and GM of entertainment at CBS Interactive.
"Our new video player platform takes advantage of the new social medium
online by combining the most advanced video technology with our expertise in
premium content programming to deliver new ways to discover and enjoy entertainment
online."
