CBS Films Closes Output Deal with TMG

LOS ANGELES/MUNICH: CBS Films and Tele München Group (TMG) have signed an all-rights output deal that covers Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland for up to seven pictures per year.

The deal in Switzerland only covers DVD and TV rights. In Germany, all films will be released by TMG’s subsidiaries Concorde Filmverleih (theatrical) and Concorde Home Entertainment (DVD and Blu-ray). The distribution of all other rights in the German-speaking territories will be handled by TMG. In the U.S., CBS Films will distribute all pictures included through its newly established marketing and distribution organization, headed by president and CEO Amy Baer.

The first release will be Extraordinary Measures, starring Brendan Fraser, Harrison Ford and Keri Russell. The film is slated for release in January 2010 in North America. The Back-Up Plan, starring Jennifer Lopez, is slated for April 2010. Beastly, starring Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens, will open in July 2010.

“We have enjoyed a long and successful association with Herbert and the Tele München Group for CBS television programming, and we are excited to expand that relationship to feature films with this new agreement," said Leslie Moonves, the president and CEO of CBS Corporation.

Dr. Herbert Kloiber, the owner and managing director of TMG, added: "Quality is a deciding factor, that’s what the exceptional successful current year has shown quite clearly. With the CBS deal we will be able to build on these recent successes in the coming years."
