CBeebies Orders Second Season of Coolabi Series

LONDON, March 28: Coolabi
Productions’ preschool animation series The Large Family has been commissioned for a second season by
CBeebies.

Based on the books by Jill
Murphy, the show’s 11-minute episodes in 2-D cel animation chronicle the
domestic chaos of an all-too-human elephant family. The second season will add
26 new episodes to the title’s library.

Dan Maddicott executive produced the series. Maddicott joined Coolabi in
October 2007 when Coolabi acquired Indie Kids, the outfit Maddicott co-founded
and from where the first series of The Large Family was
commissioned.

Since its debut, the series has sold to territories such as Australia,
Portugal, Iran and Sweden. International sales are being handled by BBC
Worldwide, which is also planning a major licensing and merchandising campaign.

“We are delighted to be continuing such a successful relationship with
CBeebies,” said Julian Scott, the head of children’s programming at Coolabi. “The
Large Family
has already demonstrated its appeal to the preschool audience and
captivated a legion of fans, who will be excited to see their favorite family
of elephants back on screen.”

The Large Family is a wonderfully engaging series with a family of
characters which are hugely identifiable for our young audiences,” added
CBeebies’ controller, Michael Carrington. “I'm thrilled that CBeebies is
continually able to attract such great talent and expertise to work with
us."
