CBBC Acquires TV-Loonland’s The Owl

MUNICH/LONDON, September
12: The recently revamped CBBC has acquired the exclusive U.K. rights to
TV-Loonland’s multiplatform CGI series The Owl.

The newly rebranded CBBC
channel unveiled its new look on September 3 and launched The Owl on September 4 in key slots throughout the day. The
series airs every weekday, both in the morning at 7:55 a.m. and in the
afternoon at 3:40 p.m. The Owl has
already aired on France 3, becoming the second most-watched children’s show in
July. A co-production by TV-Loonland, Paris-based studio Hari and France 3, the
comedic series features a rather grouchy owl who lives in a forest full of
sadistic animals, and whose mission in life is to try and stay in one piece.

Justine Bannister, the
head of international distribution and acquisitions at TV-Loonland, commented:
“We are so thrilled to have found such a perfect “nest” in the U.K. for our
beloved little pink fellow. The short one-minute format, superb quality of
animation and storytelling appear to fit well into CBBC’s multiplatform goals.
As an integral part of the channel’s impressive line-up, we believe The Owl will begin its career in the U.K. with perfect TV
exposure and from there on lead a full and successful life on mobile and
Internet platforms.”
