SINGAPORE/HONG KONG: SPE Networks—Asia has snapped up the drama series Caprica from NBC Universal International Television Distribution for its AXN Beyond channel across Asia and AXN Korea.

Caprica will make its exclusive debut on AXN Beyond across Asia in the second part of this year. AXN licensed the basic TV rights for the show in Korea as well, with Caprica to make its exclusive Korean debut on AXN in the second half of 2010. The 20-episode series is a prequel to the cult hit Battlestar Galactica.

Ricky Ow, the senior VP and general manager for SPE Networks—Asia, said, “As the first ever family saga set against a science fiction backdrop, Caprica distinguishes itself as a truly ‘out of the ordinary’ show and joins worldwide hits such as Supernatural and Lost, to be a perfect fit for AXN Beyond. Not just for Battlestar Galactica fans, Caprica will be a special treat for AXN Beyond viewers who have been growing in numbers across Asia.”
