CanWest Announces New U.S. Series Pickups

TORONTO, May 23: CanWest MediaWorks has acquired 15 new
U.S. dramas and comedies for Global Television’s 2007-2008 schedule, including
NBC Universal International Television Distribution’s Bionic Woman and CBS Paramount International Television’s Cane.

CanWest’s other acquisitions include Twentieth Century Fox
Television Distribution’s FOX sitcom Back to You with Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton; and Sony Pictures Television
International’s ABC drama Cashmere Mafia, starring Lucy Liu, and Viva Laughlin, a CBS drama from executive producer Hugh Jackman
based on the BBC series Viva Blackpool. In addition, it has acquired Twentieth Century Fox’s Journeyman, a new drama for NBC; SPTI’s Canterbury’s
Law
, picked up by FOX; and NBC Universal’s Life, for NBC’s new Wednesday-night schedule. Rounding
out the new pickups are In Plain Sight, Women’s Murder Club, New
Amsterdam
, Kid Nation, K-Ville,
Life is Wild and Swingtown.
