Canada’s Global Sets Summer Slate

TORONTO: Big Brother and Wipeout are among the series heading back to Global in Canada this summer, alongside new dramas such as Mental.

Back for its 11th season, Big Brother returns this July to watch a new set of guests compete for the $500,000 grand prize. The new one-hour medical-mystery drama Mental, the first international co-production from Fox Television Studios (FtvS) and Fox International Channels, kicks off May 26. The show follows psychiatrist Dr. Jack Gallagher as his unorthodox methods for treating patients. On May 27, the competition game show Wipeout heads back to Global for a second season. Each week, contestants of all ages and sizes compete in demanding and humorous physical challenges for a shot at $50,000.

Also returning for a second season is the USA Network series In Plain Sight, which launches May 27. The crime drama follows U.S. Marshal Mary Shannon as she works with those in the federal witness program. A new drama heading to Global, The Philanthropist launches June 24. The series, also featured in NBC’s summer lineup, follows the adventures of a billionaire playboy turned vigilante philanthropist.
