Canada Pavilion to Showcase 64 Companies at MIPTV

MONTREAL, April 5: At MIPTV next week, a total of 64
companies will exhibit under the Canada Pavilion, spearheaded by Telefilm Canada, marking the largest national pavilion at the market.

Telefilm’s
partners at MIPTV are British Columbia Film, the Ontario Media Development
Corporation and for the first time, the National Bank of Canada has joined as a sponsor.
Through the Canada Pavilion, Telefilm and its partners help forge international
ties that facilitate the sale and purchase of products as well as the signing
of co-production agreements. All regions of Canada are present at the Pavilion,
which this year will host 30 companies from Ontario, 19 from Quebec, 13 from
Western Canada and two from the Atlantic region. Telefilm has also partnered
with NSI Global Marketing to enable five emerging companies to attend MIPTV for
the first time. Companies participating in the Canada Pavilion include 9 Story
Enterprises, Breakthrough Entertainment, DECODE Entertainment, Knight
Enterprises, Cuppa Coffee Studios, Waterfront Entertainment, Canamedia, CCI
Entertainment, Amberwood Entertainment and Nerd Corps Entertainment, among
others.

In
2007, MIPTV drew more than 13,000 industry professionals from more than 100
countries. According to a Telefilm survey of companies exhibiting under the
Canada Pavilion, more than $2.6 million worth of sales were concluded at the
market in 2007.

“By
participating in international markets, Telefilm provides effective support to
Canadian companies’ development potential,” said Danny Chalifour, Telefilm Canada’s
director of industry development operations. “It’s a sign of the times that
several of the participating companies either specialize in new media or are
diversifying into interactive media. MIPTV is an ideal place to develop new
partnerships with a view to meeting new challenges and taking advantage of new
business opportunities.”
