CAKE Secures Range of Sales for Angelo Rules

LONDON: CAKE Entertainment confirmed a number of new international broadcasters for Angelo Rules, its second series co-produced with TeamTO.

CAKE has secured a sale to Turner Broadcasting’s Cartoon Network in all territories excluding the U.S., Italy, France and Japan. Italian pubcaster RAI has also picked up the rights.

The show is aimed at 6- to 11-year-olds, and tells the story of Angelo, who aims to control his life using elaborate comic strategies based on his observations of human behavior. The 78×7-minute 3D animated series is based on the French Comment Faire Enrager books written by Sylvie de Mathuisieulx and illustrated by Sebastien Diologent.

Ed Galton, the managing director at CAKE Distribution, said: “Angelo Rules was the most viewed show at MIP Junior and is one of the finest properties we have in our portfolio. As well as being a very strong series in terms of concept, the animation is exemplary. We really enjoy working with TeamTO and we look forward to future success within our partnership.”

Cecilia Persson, the VP of acquisitions for EMEA at Turner Broadcasting, added: “We’re delighted to have secured one of the hottest properties at last year’s MIPCOM. The show has a charming appeal and a very fresh look. Its cheeky sensibility, and desire to push the limits of fun will resonate with our audience across numerous territories.”
