CAKE Enters Digital Co-Pro Deal

LONDON: CAKE Entertainment has entered into a co-production deal for a short-form 3-D interactive adventure series, If I Was….

The series has been developed from two short films by Junior Jesman, a U.K.-based young animator discovered on Dailymotion. The idea came from street recordings of children talking on the subjects of “If I was a superhero” and “If I was a ninja.” If I Was… follows the journey of a child’s imagination of what they would be or do should their wishes came true. The clips are based on real-life monologues, illustrated using avatars and animated themes.

The 52 minute-long episodes have been visually developed by Blue Zoo Productions in partnership with Jesman. The series is targeted at 6- to 9-year-olds, and is intended for distribution online.

Genevieve Dexter, a partner and commercial director at CAKE, said: “We were very interested in the explosion of high-quality, home-made short-form animation on sites such as Dailymotion and thought that this would be the perfect place to start to find a property with cross media potential. Making someone’s dream come true is also extremely rewarding and If I Was... is all about that.”

Jesman added, "It is an absolute honour to be working alongside CAKE Entertainment and the guys at Blue Zoo, both of these companies are passionate about producing innovative, high-quality children’s programming. If I was… is a subversively humorous show that gives the kids a chance to contribute and be rewarded in quick cycle."
