CABLEready Offers Advanced Sales on 2011 Tonys

NORWALK: The international broadcast rights for the 2011 Tony Awards are available from CABLEready, which is offering advanced sales for the event’s telecast at MIPCOM.

The 2010 show drew in more than 7 million viewers on CBS in the U.S. The show also sold to NHK, Foxtel, Pramer and Sky New Zealand. The June 2009 broadcast of the Tony Awards was recognized in the categories of Outstanding Special Class Program and Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special at this year’s Emmys. “Congratulations to everyone associated with the Tony Awards,” said Gary Lico, the president and CEO of CABLEready. He added: “Kirshner and Weiss’ White Cherry Entertainment has taken award show production and turned it into a new art form which international buyers will find most appealing as they look to secure exciting new programming during MIPCOM.”
