BWTVF Announces New Feature Documentary Award

TORONTO,
April 23: The Banff World Television Festival (BWTVF) has unveiled a new award
for its pitch competition, the Discovery Channel/NFB Feature Documentary Pitch.

The
best pitch in the Pitch It! Feature Documentary will receive a C$15,000 cash
development prize that is presented in partnership with the Discovery Channel
in Canada and the National Film Board. Canadian and international producers
interested in pitching projects at the Festival can complete an online submission
form before the individual pitches’ various April deadlines.

Selected
pitch finalists will have the opportunity to turn their concepts into
productions when they pitch their ideas to commissioning editors before a live
audience.

"It
is very exciting to have both the Discovery Channel and the NFB come onboard to
support our pitch competition," commented BWTVF’s executive director,
Jennifer Harkness. "Participants will be face to face with some of the
industry's major decision makers presenting their project in what could become
a turnaround moment in their professional life."

The
BWTVF takes place June 8-11 at the Fairmont Banff Springs in Alberta, Canada.
