BVITV Closes Deals in Cyprus

CYPRUS/LONDON, June 19: Buena Vista International Television
(BVITV) has signed multi-year, multi-genre agreements with Cypriot pay-TV
broadcaster Lumiere TV (LTV), in collaboration with the public free-TV
broadcaster Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC).

The deals cover a slate of blockbuster movies, Disney
animated series, and live action network series. Among the titles included are Finding
Nemo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, Pirates of the Caribbean:
The Curse of the Black Pearl, National
Treasure, and Freaky Friday, as well as the TV series Lost, Criminal Minds, Ghost Whisperer, According to Jim and the second season of Desperate
Housewives. CyBC has also taken animated
fare such as Disney’s Kim Possible
and Disney’s Aladdin, The Series
for its Disney-branded slot.

Joseph Avraamides, the executive chairman of LTV, said of
the deal, “Strategic alliances of this magnitude and nature are very important
for any operator in any market, but they are becoming even more important in a
small territory like Cyprus.”
