NEW YORK: After five years of expanding the AMC and Sundance Channel brands across the globe, Bruce Tuchman is stepping down from his post at AMC Networks this spring.

Tuchman, who has been with AMC Networks since 2011, is exiting as president of AMC Global and Sundance Channel Global after MIPTV. In a statement, AMC Networks said, “He has been instrumental in developing Sundance Channel into a global brand and successfully transitioning the MGM Channel into AMC Global, positioning the business for future growth. We wish him well in his new endeavors.”

Prior to joining AMC Networks, Tuchman ran MGM Worldwide Networks. He was previously general manager of Nickelodeon Global Network Ventures and senior VP of Nickelodeon New Media Ventures.

“After five memorable years with AMC Networks, I plan to move onto the next chapter of my career this spring.

When I joined the company, I was eager to seize a new challenge: Take Sundance Channel global. With determination and passion for our mission, we have turned this quest into reality—and then some. From a presence in only a handful of markets outside of the U.S., Sundance Channel is now available in numerous linear, on-demand and associated streaming formats in more than 70 countries across five continents. I have a dedicated and determined staff to thank, but must also acknowledge the power of the Sundance brand, and the commitment of its founder, Robert Redford.

As we were building this business, the company acquired Chellomedia from Liberty Global, a key part of which was the MGM Channel. I had previously led MGM Networks and had the pleasure of working with a remarkable team for over a decade in building the business into a profitable and growing set of channels and accompanying digital media services reaching more than 130 countries and territories. Needless to say, it provided me with a great sense of fulfillment to then propel these networks onto an even higher plane and an extended lease on life, adorned with a fresh AMC brand, and the many zombies and great dramas the brand entails.

From zero to literally dozens of linear channel brands now broadcasting around the world, AMC Networks International has added a great deal of scope. From just a small group of people dedicated to the international arena, there are now few major markets in the world where AMC Networks International does not have a well-staffed presence.

I’ve been privileged to have played a key role in turning some very iconic U.S. entertainment brands into thriving global network businesses, starting with MTV, then Nickelodeon, MGM, Sundance and AMC. I realize I am very fortunate to have spent so many years in literally every corner of the world interacting with an astounding array of businesses, cultures, media, technologies, economies, governments and incredible people. I have experienced a great deal, and I have witnessed so much change. I have countless memories that I will continue to learn from, and I look forward to seeing how the rapid advances in technology will further impact the global media landscape and provide us with even greater opportunity.

And that is why following MIPTV in Cannes this April, I will move on from AMC Networks and take a brief but welcome pause in crisscrossing the world so relentlessly. This will allow me to focus on moving towards some exciting, yet different endeavors and priorities. To that end, I see a lot of reward coming in 2016, not only for myself, but for all of you as well. I look forward to updating you on my plans soon.”
