Bodog TV, Ocule Sign Distribution Deal

LOS ANGELES, September 13:
Independent non-fiction distributor Ocule has secured the global distribution
rights to four prime-time series from Bodog TV for launch at MIPCOM: Bodog
Fight
, Bodog Music’s Battle of
the Bands
, Calvin’s Sharks
& Fools
and Calvin Ayre
Wild Card
Poker.

The four shows have
previously aired on major networks across North America and in Europe. The
mixed martial arts program Bodog Fight, showcasing world-class fighters in exotic locations, includes
combatants such as Nick “The Goat” Thompson, Eddie Alvarez and femme fighter
Tara LaRosa. Meanwhile, Bodog Music’s Battle of the Bands sees young bands compete for a $1 million
recording contract with Bodog Music
by playing grueling road shows night after night. The bands are judged by
acclaimed music icons such as Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols. The hybrid
program Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker
combines poker with reality television and boasts a list of celebrities and
poker pros that include Cheryl Hines, Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell, David
Williams, Evelyn Ng and Josh Arieh. Rounding out the slate, Calvin’s Sharks
& Fools
is Bodog TV’s newest
reality series in which 10 regular poker players who aspire to a pro’s
lifestyle compete in a variety of challenges and poker games for one of the
biggest prizes in reality show history.

“Ocule is very excited to
be working with Bodog, a leader in the digital entertainment world,” noted Kirt
Eftekhar, the managing director of Ocule Films. “Now, global broadcasters and
their audiences will be introduced to Bodog TV’s cutting edge prime-time
series, which incorporate integrated programming and marketing efforts across
multiple platforms. This is perfectly suited to help today’s broadcasters boost
awareness and ratings in an ultra-competitive broadcast world.”
