BKN New Media Strikes New Deals

BARCELONA/LONDON: BKN New Media has announced new deals from its U.K. and Spanish operations, including a toy distribution agreement signed for Zorro: Generation Z

The U.K.-based BKN New Media Ltd has signed new partnerships with Czech and Slovak distributor Vapet Production and Turkish company ANC. Spanish sister company BKN New Media SL secured agreements to continue its relationship with Comarex (Mexico and Central America) and SWEN International (Latin America and Brazil).

BKN New Media SL also inked a new toy distribution deal in Spain, Portugal and Andorra with Simba España for the boys action animation brand Zorro: Generation Z. The company’s VP of licensing, Jesus Diaz, commented: “We are thrilled to have concluded the deal with Simba, and can’t wait to work with them promoting the brand throughout Spain, Portugal and Andorra.” He added, “And they join the growing number of Spanish and Portuguese licensees who are already our business partners for Zorro: Generation Z.” Following the show’s success, BKN New Media is set to deliver a second season of Zorro later this year, along with rolling out a new property: Joshua Blake: The Agency

Zorro is based on the iconic character but set in a modern Pueblo Grande with electronic gadgets and motorcycles. Joshua is a computer genius and a fantastic athlete who has been recruited as a technological super agent for a top secret government organization known as The Agency.

Nicola Andrews, the managing director of the London arm, said, “After a tough year in 2009, we are happy with this start in 2010. We own a quality catalogue and continue to deliver high-quality, high-definition animation to young audiences around the globe.”
