BOSTON: Bill Moyers, a veteran of public television, is set to deliver the keynote speech at the APT Fall Marketplace on November 10, while his new series, Moyers & Company, is to premiere in January 2012.

Moyers will be speaking about his series and the state of journalism and public media at APT, which is taking place in Memphis, Tennessee. Moyers retired his series Bill Moyers Journal in May 2010, but with funding and a new grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, he has been working with the independent production company Public Affairs Television on a new broadcast for public television by THIRTEEN for WNET and distributed by American Public Television.

Moyers said the new series “will offer different news, some new voices and fresh thinking, and an occasional cultural grace note.” He added: “We will feature people we think you and your community will want to know. There will be a diversity of voices, one-on-one interviews with lively minds rich in experience and insight, as well as an exchange of views among people who may disagree but who nonetheless agree on the importance of a civil dialogue about their differences.”

Moyers has received more than 35 Emmys and was awarded the Lifetime Emmy Award in 2006 for “devoting his lifetime to the exploration of the major issues and ideas of our time and our country, giving television viewers an informed perspective on political and societal concerns.”
