Bewkes to Keynote Royal Television Society Conference

LONDON: The Royal Television Society’s lineup for its 2010 international conference is headlined by Time Warner chair and CEO Jeff Bewkes, who will deliver this year’s keynote.

The U.K. broadcasting minister, Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, the secretary of state for culture, Olympics, media and sport, will be on hand to discuss policy developments as the new government approaches its sixth month in office. As Britain’s new government rolls out plans for high-speed broadband, Dr. Suk-Ho Bang, the president of the Korean broadcasting and telecommunication think tank KISDI, reveals how this all really works. The new VOD market will be mapped by Liz Murdoch, the chair and CEO of Shine; David Abraham, the CEO of Channel 4; Neil Berkett, the CEO of Virgin and Matt Brittin, the CEO of Google UK. The conference will also hear from the president of NBC International, Peter Smith, and executive VP an Managing Director of Disney Channels EMEA, Giorgio Stock.

Other participants include Five’s CEO, Dawn Airey; Peter Bazalgette; Adam Crozier, the CEO of ITV; Mike Darcey, the COO of BSkyB; Mark Thompson, the director-general of the BBC and Gerhard Zeiler, the CEO of the RTL Group.

The one-day conference, entitled Doing It, will take place at London’s Barbican Centre on September 28.
