BET Unveils Scripted Original Series

NEW YORK, August 27: Somebodies, the new original scripted series for BET based on
the film of the same name, will make its debut on September 9 at 10:30 p.m.
with two back-to-back, half-hour episodes.

The single-camera comedy
features an African-American undergraduate at a large university who is trying
to figure out his place in the world. He embarks on a journey of self-discovery
without knowing which path to follow and everyone in his life has an opinion on
the direction he should take. The series is shot entirely on location in
Athens, Georgia.

Somebodies is written and directed by and stars the film’s
creator, Hadjii, who shares executive producing responsibilities with the
original feature’s producer, Nathaniel Kohn, Generate’s Peter Aronson and
Jordan Levin, the former CEO of The WB network. The series premiere and
additional episodes are being helmed by Rusty Cundieff (Chapelle’s Show).
