BET Scores Weinstein Company Titles

NEW YORK, October 23: BET
Networks has acquired the first network-window rights to a package of
theatrical features from The Weinstein Company, including the upcoming Soul
Men
with Samuel L. Jackson and the
late Bernie Mac.

In addition to Soul Men, BET has acquired the first position
network-window rights to the full-length theatrical feature The Longshots and Hurricane Season with Forest Whitaker as a high-school basketball
coach, as well as a portion of the network window rights to The Great
Debaters
starring Denzel
Washington. BET Networks will also be a promotional partner on Soul Men and Hurricane Season: 106 & Park will broadcast from the red-carpet premiere of Soul
Men
at the Apollo Theater on
October 28, and or Hurricane Season,
BET will be air a prime-time special featuring a town-hall discussion with
students, real players, actors from the film and the filmmakers.

Stephen G. Hill, the
executive VP of music programming and talent and interim head of entertainment
for BET Networks, noted: "Movies perform exceptionally well on our
network, and with the addition of compelling and entertaining Weinstein films,
we are confident that we will be giving our audience more of what they
want."
