Belgium’s VTR Renews Hit Show from Granada

BRUSSELS, November 28: The
popular Belgian series Steracteur Sterartiest!, based on Granada International’s Soapstar
Superstar
format, will go into a second
season on Een, VTR’s first channel.

The finale of the program’s
first season, which aired on November 24, achieved a 49.4-percent share, the
highest Friday night share this year on Een. Steracteur Sterartiest! is produced in Belgium.

During the season, Steracteur
Sterartiest!
regularly reached shares of
more than 40 percent of the audience. The show stars several of Belgium’s top
TV actors and soap stars.

"This show has everything to make Friday night special
for our viewers: well-known television stars, the element of challenge and
full-blown music entertainment,” says Jean Philip De Tender, VRT’s content
manager. “We're delighted to announce that we will be working again with Granada
International in 2007 for a further series."

“The show has been a phenomenal hit at VRT and we're
thrilled that the channel has already committed to a second series before the
finale of the first series has even taken place," adds Lucy Hellier, the
sales executive at Granada International who sold the show to VRT.

ITV's Soapstar Superstar team from Manchester, led by Rachel Ashdown, head of
Entertainment Manchester, worked closely with producers at VRT to successfully
transfer the show to Belgium.
