BBC Worldwide Looks to Expand Digital, Format Business in Asia

HONG
KONG, December 12: Disney-ABC International Television's Mark Chan is
heading to BBC Worldwide to fill the newly created role of regional sales and
business development director for digital media and formats in Asia.

Chan's
remit is to expand the BBC's licensing business for digital media and formats
region-wide, including South Korea, India and Japan. "In Asia, we have seen a fast-growing
number of digital platforms, as well as traditional media broadcasters,
expanding into the digital space," said Joyce Yeung, the senior VP and
general manager for BBC Worldwide Sales and Distribution in Asia. "There
is also a growing demand for international formats and co-production for
cross-platform application. It's the perfect time to introduce a strong talent
like Mark in order to develop strategies to drive further growth in these two
key areas for us."

Chan joins the BBC from Disney-ABC, where he served as director of
sales for Greater China. He takes on his new role in February 2009, reporting
to Yeung.
