BBC Worldwide Inks a Number of Deals in Eastern Europe

LONDON, June 29: BBC
Worldwide licensed more than 500 hours of programming to broadcasters across
Eastern Europe at this year’s DISCOP.

Several shows were
licensed to TVR in Romania, as part of a two-year output deal, including the
natural history documentary Planet Earth, the docu-drama Hannibal
and three drama series: Doctor Who,
Robin Hood and Hotel Babylon.

HRT in Croatia has
acquired a cumulative 548 episodes from BBC Worldwide, including, most
recently, series three of The Weakest Link. Studio 1+1 in Ukraine and Kanal Kaks in Estonia picked up the format
Strictly Come Dancing, which
has now been sold to 27 countries.

BBC Worldwide has also
pre-sold Jane Eyre to Bulgarian
TV. The station also acquired Planet Earth and a number of drama programs, including Spooks, Hustle, Hotel Babylon, Sharpe’s
Challenge
, Under the Greenwood
Tree
and Waterloo Road.
