Univision Wins Prestigious News Award

MIAMI,
June 29: Univision’s news magazine Primer Impacto received the Edward R. Murrow award for Best
Network News Series from the Radio-Television News Directors Association
(RTNDA).

The program was honored
for its three-part series entitled Angeles en el infierno (Angels in Hell). The series aired in October and November of last
year and presented first-hand accounts of the exploitation of children in three
Latin American countries.

“The plight of
children working in sweatshops in Asia has been well documented throughout the
years, but the story of child labor in our own hemisphere is less well known,”
said Maria Lopez-Alvarez, Vice President and Co-Director of Univision Network
News. “Receiving one of the most prestigious awards in electronic journalism
for exposing this important story is extremely satisfying.”

This award marks the sixth
time Univision has been honored by the RTNDA.
