BBC Worldwide in Japanese Branded-Block Deal

TOKYO: BBC Worldwide is set to launch a branded drama block on Japanese cable and satellite broadcaster LaLa TV in April 2011.

BBC Entertainment presents “Premium Theatre” will air once a week in prime time, delivering top BBC Worldwide dramas such as Cranford, Desperate Romantics and PA’s.
 
Katsuhiko Waza, president of BBC Worldwide Japan, commented, "LaLa TV has previously broadcast popular BBC titles such as Mistresses and Robin Hood and we believe that this platform will be wonderful for Japanese audiences to further engage with even more quality British drama.” 
 
Shinji Suda, president and representative director at Jupiter Entertainment, added, "Since the launch of LaLa TV in 2000, we have televised a lot of BBC drama and, especially since broadcasting the movie-quality drama series Robin Hood, have had the opportunity to increase British drama viewers in Japan.
