BBC Worldwide Fills Format Acquisitions Role

LONDON: BBC Worldwide has appointed Alice Hughes to the newly created post of formats acquisitions manager.

Hughes will be tasked with facilitating new relationships with independent producers and rights holders internationally to develop formats and concepts for BBC Worldwide’s production network and format licensing. Hughes was previously a senior sales executive at BBC Worldwide, responsible for format sales into EMEA. Hughes will report to Matt Paice, the executive VP of international production. 

Paice commented of the appointment: “Alice has a terrific knowledge of the international formats and production marketplace so I’m delighted she’s making this move to work on our new programming strategy.”

Hughes added: “I am really excited at the opportunity to be working at the coalface of television with some of the industry’s most creative minds. We have a strong formats catalogue with some of the world’s most recognized brands and I look forward to further building on this.”
