BBC Worldwide Expands HK Presence

SINGAPORE/LONDON: A five-channel bouquet from BBC Worldwide Channels Asia is set to roll out on Hong Kong Cable, with BBC Knowledge, BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle and CBeebies joining BBC World News on the platform by year end.

BBC Knowledge joins the basic tier on October 29, followed by BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle and CBeebies on as-yet-undisclosed tiers later in the year. "We are focused on expanding the reach of BBC Knowledge and all our channel brands to as many viewers as possible throughout Asia," said Mark Whitehead, the senior VP and general manager of BBC Worldwide Channels Asia. "This new deal confirms our commitment to Hong Kong, delivering our wide range of high-quality, award-winning programming—from factual, lifestyle and children’s, to comedy and drama—to new viewers.”

The cable deal expands BBC Worldwide’s Hong Kong presence, with its portfolio already available on PCCW’s nowTV IPTV service.
