BBC Trust Approves On-Demand Services

LONDON, May 1: The BBC Trust has given its approval to the
public broadcaster’s proposed iPlayer, allowing online, on-demand access to a
range of BBC titles.

Launching later this year, the service allows viewers to
watch shows online for seven days after the initial linear broadcast. Episodes
can also be downloaded and stored for up to 30 days.

The approval comes after a public consultation process in
which about 10,500 individuals and organizations submitted their thoughts on
the system.
