LONDON: BBC One has lined up a special broadcast for June 28 in which U.S. President Barack Obama interviews Sir David Attenborough at the White House.

The sit-down was recorded in May, on Attenborough's 89th birthday. The two spoke about the topics of climate change, its effect on the environment and other critical issues threatening the planet. Atlantic Productions' Anthony Geffen served as producer on the special. BBC Worldwide is the global distributor and the special has already been sold internationally to more than 50 countries. The special broadcast is planned for this Sunday, June 28, on BBC One in the U.K. and BBC America in the U.S.

Charlotte Moore, the controller of BBC One, said: “It’s an absolute coup to see these two great men in conversation on BBC One, talking about their shared personal passion for the future of the natural world and some of the critical issues facing our planet today.”

Sarah Barnett, the president of BBC America, commented: “As the U.S. home to the BBC’s landmark natural history series, we are privileged and delighted to present this extraordinary conversation with President Obama and Sir Attenborough, one of the greatest naturalists of our time.”
