LONDON: Classic Media’s Postman Pat is celebrating its 30th birthday with a new order from the BBC for a further 26 15-minute episodes of Postman Pat Special Delivery Service (SDS).

The new episodes are due to air on the BBC in 2013. Postman Pat Special Delivery Service (SDS) has been airing on the pubcaster since 2008. It is an update of the classic Postman Pat, which first launched on the BBC in September 1981.

“We’re delighted to be continuing this long-standing relationship with the BBC for Postman Pat,” said Chloe van den Berg, executive VP of international at Classic Media. “As the longest-running animation series on the BBC, there is huge nostalgia and awareness over three generations for the nation’s favorite postie and the new series confirms the popularity of the refreshed SDS brand.”

Kay Benbow, controller of CBeebies, added, “After all these years Postman Pat continues to deliver for us, so we are delighted to be welcoming this much loved character back to our screens for brand new adventures."
