BBC America Adds New Factual-Entertainment Series

LONDON: Digital Rights Group (DRG) has sold the Renegade Pictures factual-entertainment series Don’t Tell the Bride to BBC America, which picked up both the first and second seasons.

Don’t Tell the Bride watches as the wedding planning is left in the hands of the groom, rather than the bride. The show has already been licensed to territories such as New Zealand, Australia, Sweden and Denmark. The format has been optioned to a number of broadcasters, with production slated for later this year.

The show was a strong performer on BBC Three last year, and will launch on BBC America on May 15. A third season is currently in production.

Patrick Roberts, the VP of international sales at DRG, commented, “We’re delighted that BBC America have acquired Don’t Tell the Bride and are confident the show will be as popular in America as it was here. The innovative approach in this program to what is essentially universal subject in matter makes it appealing to a large audience and that is being echoed the world over as broadcasters clamor for the format rights. We look forward to seeing the various international versions of the show due for delivery later this year.”
