BAFTA TV Nominations Announced

LONDON, April 11: Kudos’ Life on Mars and Power’s The Virgin Queen are among the nominees for the British Academy
Television Awards, which will be presented at the London Palladium on May 20.

In the single drama category, nods went to ITV1’s Housewife
49, BBC Four’s Kenneth Williams:
Fantabulosa! and Channel 4’s Longford and Road to Guantanamo. In drama series, BBC One’s Life on Mars and The Street are up against Channel 4’s Shameless and Sugar Rush. For drama serial, the nominees are Channel 4’s Low Winter
Sun, ITV1’s Prime Suspect: The
Final Act and See No Evil: The
Moors Murders and BBC One’s The
Virgin Queen. In continuing drama, the
nominees are Casualty and Eastenders
on BBC One and Coronation Street and Emmerdale on ITV1.

In factual series, Sky One’s Ross Kemp on Gangs is up against three BBC Two titles: Stephen
Fry—The Secret Life Of A Manic Depressive, Tribe and Who
Do You Think You Are?

Channel 4 and the BBC are up against each other in the
specialist factual category, where nods went to Munich: Mossad's Revenge, Nuremberg: Goering's Last Stand, Planet Earth and Simon Schama's Power Of Art; and in the single documentary category, with Breaking Up
With The Joneses, Evicted, 9/11: The Falling Man and Rain In My Heart.

Up for best actor are Longford’s Jim Broadbent and Andy Serkis, Michael Sheen from Kenneth
Williams: Fantabulosa! and John Simm of Life
on Mars. The best actress nominees are
Anne-Marie Duff of The Virgin Queen,
Samantha Morton from Longford,
Ruth Wilson from Jane Eyre and
Victoria Wood from Housewife 49.

In the comedy performance category, both Ricky Gervais and
Stephen Merchant are nominated for Extras.
The other nominees are Dawn French from The Vicar of Dibley and Liz Smith for The Royle Family: Queen
Of Sheba.

In the features category, nominations went to BBC Two’s The
Apprentice, The Choir and Dragon’s Den and Channel 4’s The F Word.

Up for the international award are HBO’s Entourage, FOX’s House, ABC’s Lost and NBC’s My
Name is Earl.

In the entertainment program category, the nominees are
ITV1’s Dancing on Ice and The
X Factor, Channel 4’s Derren
Brown: The Heist and BBC One’s How
Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?

Up for situation comedy are Channel 4’s Green Wing ad The IT Crowd and the BBC’s Pulling
and The Royle Family: Queen of Sheba.
In comedy program, meanwhile, nominations went to The Catherine Tate
Show, Little Britain Abroad, Little Miss Jocelyn and That Mitchell & Webb Look.
