Babelgum Slates Exclusive Doc Premieres

NEW YORK/MONTREAL/LONDON: Babelgum has entered into a deal with Films Transit to present ten independent documentaries on its online and mobile platforms as exclusive features.

Titles include An Ordinary Family, Grass, Battle for Our Minds, Bride Kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan, Manufacturing Consent, Satellite Queens, The American Nightmare, China’s Sexual Revolution, Crimes of Honour and The Last Victory. One film will be made available each month for free video streaming online. After each of these exclusive month-long runs, the films will remain on the Babelgum platform non-exclusively for two years.

Jan Rofekamp of Films Transit said: “We are proud to be working with Babelgum on presenting a selection of our best-quality documentaries on their innovative platforms. Although many of these titles have enjoyed success at international film festivals and on television, the global exposure ensures that these socially relevant films will continue to build an audience outside traditional distribution channels. Films Transit looks forward to working with our friends at Babelgum, who’ve shown an abiding dedication to documentary filmmaking.”

Karol Martesko-Fenster, the general manager and senior VP of Babelgum’s film division, stated: “We are thrilled about our partnership with Films Transit, one of the world’s most respected distributors of documentaries. This deal significantly strengthens Babelgum’s international profile and reaffirms our commitment to being the cutting-edge online and mobile destination for independent film. It is important to us to feature filmmakers from every corner of the globe, and Films Transit’s selection of award-winners and festival favorites perfectly complements our curatorial taste.”
