Babelgum Adds Sci-Fi/Horror Block to Comedy Channel

LONDON/NEW YORK: Babelgum is expanding its comedy channel with the addition of a new sci-fi/horror block of programming, which will launch with four new series that have been exclusively created and produced for the mobile and online destination.

Among the series to be featured in the new block is The Occulterers, an interactive comedy and horror show about a ghost-hunting team. The show kicks off in a genuine Transylvanian castle, and viewers can watch live feeds from the castle and communicate with the team through Twitter about what they see and hear. Also set for the new block is the sci-fi comedy Hurtling Through Space at an Alarming Rate! The series follows the adventures of two pop-culture buffs who are trapped in their apartment as it’s literally hurtling through space at an alarming rate. Also in the pipeline is Cannibal Run, based on the outlawed and unofficial cross-country automobile race in the ’70s.

"We’re expanding our Smart Comedy offerings each week with funny, professionally-produced content and I’m very excited to finally be announcing these incredible sci-fi/horror series," said Amber J. Lawson, the publisher of Babelgum’s comedy channel. "These programs are all exclusively created for our web and mobile platforms to appeal to the sci-fi/horror fan in all of us, and fall under our goal of bringing smart comedy to our viewers. I feel sci-fi/horror comedy is an under-served and rabid audience, and my idea was to give that audience what they want."
