Azteca Brings Back La Academia

MEXICO CITY: Azteca’s hit series La Academia has returned with a ninth season on Azteca International.

The series debuted on Azteca International on August 21. It is hosted by Chilean TV presenter Rafael Araneda and Mexican TV star, actress and singer Bibi Gaytan.

La Academia follows 35 contestants who endure training over four months in singing, dancing and acting to ultimately win a recording contract. At the end of each week, viewers vote for their favorite contestant.

The series, which first launched in 2002 and aired in more than 19 countries, has become the number one entertainment show in Mexico and Central America. The format was created and developed by Azteca.
