Austria’s ORF Begins Filming on Polly Adler Series

VIENNA, September 4: ORF has begun production in Vienna on
the new 4×45-minute series Polly Adler,
which follows a single mother and society journalist who tries to cope with the
competing demands of family and career.

The new series will be available in February 2008. Polly
Adler
, which began as a 90-minute pilot TV movie, is directed by
Austrian Peter Gersina and written by the character’s creator, Angelika Hager,
together with Uli Brée. Hager is a journalist and author of several books who
invented the character of Polly Adler 12 years ago for her weekly newspaper
column.

“Polly loves life, even if it sometimes gives her the
finger,” said Hager. “Her greatest weapons in the never-ending battle between
the demands of her job as a society journalist, her pubescent daughter and the
attempt to bring a little glamour into her love life, are her humor and
intuition. Polly personifies the dilemma of modern women who want too much, get
too little and have to cope with the inevitable smudged mascara.”
