Attendance Record Set for German Screenings

VIENNA, December 6: The German Screenings, which is being
held in Austria for the first time, is reporting record attendance this year
with 165 buyers participating.

The event, which kicked off last night with a gala dinner at
the Vienna Museum of Fine Arts, is being held at the Hotel Le Méridien, where
buyers are screening shows from Deutsche Welle, german united distributors,
Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) and Telepool, among other distributors.
ORF organized this year’s event in Vienna. “With the German Screenings 2006
held in Austria, we were able to inspire customers from all over Europe,
Brazil, the United Arab Emirates and even China,” said Beatrice Riesenfelder,
the head of sales and acquisitions at the company.

ORF has already shored up agreements on titles like the
comedy Polly Adler, which was sold to
France. The Universum production Nature Tech—How Engineers are
Inspired by Nature’s Top Design
attracted
broadcasters from Russia, Hungary, Finland and Iceland. A new documentary on
Natascha Kampusch, the young woman who was held captive in a cellar for more
than eight years, also picked up deals in France, Finland and Germany.

Telepool has secured presales on its brand new telenovela Red
Roses
, which it is highlighting at the
German Screenings. Deutsche Welle is focusing on the lifestyle magazine euromaxx, as well as the new car magazine drive it!. german united distributors, meanwhile, has closed
deals on Life under Napoleon in
Russia, Finland, Bosnia and the Middle East; and the mini-series Communism has been sold to Croatia, Switzerland, France,
Denmark, Bosnia and the Middle East.

The German Screenings will return to Germany in 2007.
