LONDON: ITV Studios Global Entertainment has licensed the original 1967 production of The Prisoner to Arte, which will begin airing the series for its French and German audiences July 24.

Four episodes of The Prisoner will be dubbed in German for the first time by Arte—in its initial 1969 airing, those four episodes were not dubbed into the local language. The series had already been dubbed in French.

“Off the back of the international success of ITV Studios’ and AMC’s The Prisoner, interest in the original series has hit a new peak," said Tobi de Graaff, the director of global TV distribution at ITV Studios Global Entertainment. "It’s testament to the breadth and quality of our portfolio of programs that we are able to respond to this renewed enthusiasm and offer French and German audiences another chance to enjoy this groundbreaking classic.”

The ITV Studios and AMC Prisoner reboot has sold into more than 100 markets, including Germany with ZDF and France with Canal+ .
