Argumental Gets Re-Commissioned with New Host, Interactivity

LONDON: Dave is revitalizing the debate format Argumental, with Sean Lock replacing John Sergeant as the host, and dual-screen interactivity as part of the fourth season.

Lock (8 out of 10 Cats, QI) will host, while Robert Webb (Peep Show, That Mitchell & Webb Look) will lead one of the teams. Tiger Aspect is overseeing the revamp of the show, which will include new graphics and an updated set. Viewers will be able to play along with the teams in real time, using dual-screen interactivity.

The show returns for a fourth season on Dave in October, as part of the Made by Dave sub-brand, which goes live in late September.

Sarah Fraser, the commissioning editor for UKTV, said, “Tiger Aspect has done a great job to completely reimagine Argumental whilst retaining its most fantastic qualities as a place where Britain’s top comedians can riff freely on the topics of the day. I’m thrilled to have Sean Lock and Robert Webb on board.”

Steve North, general manager of Dave, added, “Argumental has built up an enviable level of credibility in the comedy community. The addition of Sean Lock and Robert Webb, coupled with the play-at-home technology, makes this series more relevant than ever to Dave’s savvy viewers.”

Clive Tulloh, executive producer for Tiger Aspect, commented, “Argumental has always been a fun and challenging project. Rather like working with UKTV who have set us the challenge of remoulding the look and feel of the series. We are really pleased with the results and delighted to be working with Sarah and everyone at UKTV again.”
