APT Worldwide Secures Rights to Astronomy Doc

BOSTON, September 20: APT
Worldwide, the international sales division of American Public Television, has
secured the international representation rights to Seeing in the Dark, a new high-definition astronomy special from
writer and producer Timothy Ferris.

Seeing in the Dark is based on Ferris’s award-winning book of the same
name, which examines how amateur astronomers are exploring deep space and discovering
the universe. The film features never-before-seen astronomical photography and
special effects.

Ferris enlisted the help
of Hollywood cinematographer Francis Kenny and veteran BBC natural history
director Nigel Ashcroft, among others, for the project.

"Seeing in the
Dark
is meant to alter, inspire
and illuminate the lives of millions," said Ferris. "It introduces
viewers to the rewards of first-person, hands-on astronomy; from kids learning
the constellations to amateur astronomers doing professional-grade research in
discovering planets and exploding stars. I hope it will encourage many viewers
to make stargazing part of their lives, and a few to get into serious amateur
astronomy."
