NEW YORK: A recent Nielsen survey shows that the Apple iPad is the most desired consumer electronic among kids 6 to 12 for the holiday season.

The findings are consistent with U.S. kids’ 2010 wishlists, with the iPad even increasing its stronghold, with 44 percent of kids interested in the product, up from 31 percent last year. The iPod touch (30 percent) and iPhone (27 percent) round out the top three. Computers and other tablet brands garnered a quarter of the young consumers.

For consumers ages 13 and older, the iPad was cited by 24 percent, compared to last year’s 18 percent. The device exceeds that of computers (18 percent), which were 2010’s top item in this segment.
