AMPTP Sets Deadline for SAG

LOS ANGELES, July 10: The Alliance of Motion Picture and
Television Producers (AMPTP) has stepped up its pressure on the Screen Actors
Guild (SAG), telling the union that if its last offer is not accepted by August
15, the proposed wage increases will not be retroactive.

The AMPTP maintains that its offer to SAG provides $250
million in additional compensation over the next three years. SAG has said it
will meet with Hollywood producers today to discuss the offer.

In the deal is not accepted and ratified by August 15, wage
increases will not occur retroactively from July 1 (the previous contract
expired June 30); instead, they will take effect in the first payroll period
after ratification. As such, actors could collectively lose more than $200,000
a day.

“The producers have included this traditional incentive in
the final offer in order to get everyone back to work and end the de facto
strike,” the AMPTP said in a statement.

The increased pressure from AMPTP comes a few days after the
smaller actors union, AFTRA, ratified its new three-year deal.
