Amazon Studios Suspends Roy Price Amid Harassment Allegations

Roy Price, the head of Amazon Studios and global content at Amazon Video, has been put on a leave of absence following harassment claims.

Reports of the alleged harassment surfaced yesterday, involving Isa Hackett, who worked as a producer on Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle and Philip K Dick’s Electric Dreams. Hackett claims that Price made an obscene joke and crude sexual reference to her, and pressured her for sex.

The suspension comes as actress Rose McGowan, who is among the accusers in the ongoing Harvey Weinstein fallout, took to Twitter to call out Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. McGowan said she complained to Price about Weinstein, and after that, Amazon dropped a project she was working on with Price’s team. “I am calling on you to stop funding rapists, alleged pedos and sexual harassers. I love @amazon but there is rot in Hollywood,” she tweeted.

Amazon has confirmed in a statement: “Roy Price is on leave of absence effective immediately. We are reviewing our options for our projects we have with the Weinstein Company.”

Albert Cheng, COO of Amazon Studios, has been named interim head of the division.
