ALL3MEDIA International Acquires New Formats

LONDON, September 28: ALL3MEDIA International has boosted
its catalogue of third-party formats by acquiring the eco-tainment challenge
show Wa$ted!, and the BBC canine and
celebrity challenge program The Underdog Show.

Created by the British independent production company Splash
Media, The Underdog Show is a format
that sees eight celebrities working with “rescue” dogs. The celebrities and
their dogs work with a trainer over a six week period to complete agility and
obedience tests in front of a live audience on a weekly basis, with the
performances assessed by three professional judges who come from the
professional competitive dog show world. The U.K. show, hosted by Julian Clary,
airs as a one-hour live broadcast followed by a 30-minute results show each
week. A separate children’s version of the show is also produced by Splash
Media for CBBC.

Wa$ted is a new
factual entertainment format from Fumes TV for TV3 in New Zealand. The format
sees families go through a series of challenges in an effort to turn their
households into “eco-havens” and contribute to saving the planet, as well as
their hard-earned cash.

ALL3MEDIA International will be selling both shows as
completed programs in addition to the formats. ALL3MEDIA International’s
formats division was re-launched in the U.K. 18 months ago with a remit to
establish strong relations with the international format community, and assess
the format potential of the catalogues within the ALL3MEDIA stable of
companies.

Stephanie Hartog, the senior VP of formats at the company,
commented: “We have established ourselves in the formats arena and are now
looking to broaden the formats catalogue through the selective acquisition of
top quality shows with international appeal. Wa$ted! is an exceptionally well-conceived entertainment
format on a subject that is timely and global, whilst The Underdog
Show
combines the love of the
“under-dog”—quite literally—in a dynamic and challenging structure
that appeals at both a competitive and emotional level with audiences.”
