Al Gore’s Current TV and Yahoo! Form Video Venture

SAN FRANCISCO, September
21: Yahoo! and Current TV, the media company founded by former Vice President
Al Gore, are creating an online video programming venture.

The new service, called
Yahoo Current Network (video.yahoo.com/currenttv), will combine professional
and user-generated video clips and will consist of four separate channels.

The first, Current Buzz,
will feature segments related to news. The other channels will relate to
specialized topics: travel, action sports, and cars. The companies plan to add
more channels in the future.

Most clips on Yahoo
Current Network will be preceded by 15- or 30-second commercials. Current’s
editors plan on eliminating all videos that are offensive or contain
copyrighted material, in an effort to make viral videos attractive to
advertisers.
