Agence France-Presse Expands AFPTV

PARIS, February 13: The news agency Agence France-Presse is
looking to expand the global reach of AFPTV, its English and French-language
video service covering current events.

The service offers reports on current events and related
issues, features, raw footage and interviews produced by AFP video reporters in
France and around the world. AFPTV offers about 150 video clips per month, a
number that will increase in coming months. Services in Arabic and Spanish are
on the cards, and a German launch is being considered.

AFP’s CEO, Pierre Louette, commented: “With this major push,
the agency and its employees can face the future with confidence, because they
will be better able to meet the expectations of our approximately 7,000 clients
worldwide.”

Created in 2001, the AFPTV team focused its marketing and
editorial efforts on France until the middle of last year, using mainly
Parisian journalists and covering primarily current events in France. The
production network now includes about 40 video reporters, both French and
English-speaking, in France and abroad. International production centers are
located in Paris, Warsaw, Istanbul, Baghdad, Cairo, New Delhi, Bangkok,
Beijing, Nairobi, Rio de Janeiro, Havana and, opening later this year,
Washington D.C.
