AETN Scores New China Deal

CANNES, October 11: AETN International
has reached an agreement to license 37 hours of programming from The History
Channel catalogue to China International Television Corp. (CITVC), the
commercial arm of CCTV.

The deal includes three
AETN series for CCTV broadcast: Ancient Discoveries (10×1-hour), Nature Tech (6×1-hour) and UFO Files (21×1-hour). The deal extends a relationship that
began with a co-production deal between CCTV and The History Channel for a
four-hour special, China’s First Emperor. In addition, AETN All Asia Networks, a joint venture of AETN and
ASTRO All Asia Entertainment Networks, acquired Rise of the Great Powers from CCTV for broadcast on The History Channel in
Southeast Asia.
